Wednesday is here again, which means a new week for new comics. If you are like me, you may still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week, but how can anyone fault us for reading. Here is a list of books I will be picking up at my local comic shop.
Like many readers I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult when there are so many quality books being published each week. So here are 5 titles to consider picking up this week.
Jimmy’s Bastards #1 – $3.99
Aftershock Comics – Garth Ennis, Russell Bruan, Dave Johnson, John Kalisz, Rob Steen
NEW SERIES! Jimmy Regent, Britain’s number one super-spy, has got it all: intrigue, adventure, a license to shoot whoever he likes and beautiful women falling at his feet. He also has a new partner who isn’t quite as impressed by Jimmy as all other women appear to be. Now, there’s a price to pay for Jimmy’s multiple romantic conquests – the results of which are about to come calling in the worst possible way… From the creator and writer of Preacher and The Boys comes the brand-new series that HAD to be told at AfterShock Comics.
Grass Kings #4 – $3.99
BOOM! Studios – Matt Kindt, Tyler Jenkins, Tula Lotay
Humbert and his police force face off against Robert’s militia in the Grass Kingdom.
Kill the Minotaur #1 – $3.99
Image Comics – Chris Pasetto, Christian Cantamessa, Lukas Ketner, Jean-Francois Beaulieu, Clem Robins
Athens lost the war to Crete. Now, they pay tribute to King Minos by sacrificing their best citizens to his unearthly labyrinth. Conspirators believe Theseus can be the hero they need to end the mad king’s bloody reign…but no one on this world has ever encountered anything like the savage minotaur.
CHRIS PASETTO, CHRISTIAN CANTAMESSA (Red Dead Redemption) and LUKAS KETNER (WITCH DOCTOR) reinvent the most fearsome beast of all with this horrific tale of heroism. Each issue features 30 pages of story!
Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian – $4.99
DC Comics – Steve Orlando, Frank J. Barbeire, Jim Fanning, Jerome K. Moore, John Loter, Aaron Lopresti, Hi-Fi
Martian Manhunter tries to halt Marvin the Martian’s determination for world domination. J’onn is conflicted with his own Martian identity as he attempts to stop the hapless, determined Marvin from blowing Earth to bits in order to gain a clear view of Venus. And the bonus Looney Tunes backup story features DC characters written by Jim Fanning with art by John Loter!
There’s Nothing There #2 – $3.99
Black Mask Comics – Patrick Kindlon, Maria Llovet
Reno puts ghosts on the back burner to walk the red carpet. But hauntings aren’t scheduled things, and she soon finds herself visited by another restless spirit. Meanwhile, more corporeal threats begin to form around her as a stalker and an angry sex cult jockey for position. It’s beginning to feel like nowhere is safe.
Extra Pulls: Dark Days: The Forge #1, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #21, Secret Warriors #3, Space Riders #2, World Reader #3
