Ben Affleck Shines in Otherwise by the Books Drama ‘Tender Bar’

Despite A-list star George Clooney churning out some duds behind the camera, including last year’s pricey The Midnight Sky from Netflix and 2017’s Suburbicon starring Matt Damon, he still should appear on the radar whether he’s starring or directing. Clooney’s latest film, Prime Video’s The Tender Bar, based on the 2005 memoir of the same name, hits the streaming service this weekend. Even though Clooney is still in search of his first high quality directorial effort since 2011’s The Ides of March, this coming-of-age story is still charming enough for anyone to enjoy, thanks in large part to Ben Affleck.

Suburbicon is Pointless & Uncomfortable Failing to Deliver Anything of Value (Review)

It’s funny how much the Galaxy pre-show can inform a review.  Not only do we get trailers, we get to watch people talk about the movies they made.  I’m not sure why, but when I saw George Clooney talking about Suburbicon, I knew it was going to be a stinker.  The low reviews were no surprise.  I wasn’t going to see Suburbicon to see if it was good or not, I was going to see why it was bad.  Maybe I was hoping it turned out, against all expectation, to be awesome.  It wasn’t, I hated it.   The rest of the review is going to be why I hated it.  If you’re planning on seeing this movie, stop right and don’t read any further.  I’m going to spoil everything.   Read more

Money Monster: All The Skill in The World Can’t Polish a Turd [Review]

I’d never heard of Money Monster before I went and saw it and the trailer told me everything I needed to know about this movie.  It was exactly as advertised.   I feel bad hating on this movie actually.  It was well written and very well acted.  Julia Roberts and George Clooney kept making me feel like I was watching a better movie than I was.  But all the expertise in the world can’t make up for a faulty premise.  But as with all bad movies, I watched this so you don’t have to so I’m going to spoil this one, a lot.
