Sons of Anarchy Spin-Off Series Based on Rival Gang The Mayans Officially in Works at FX

It was officially revealed today via EW that Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy and the upcoming The Bastard Executioner, will executive produce a spin-off series focused on the Mexican-American biker gang The Mayans.

The Mayans are a rival motorcycle club that started off as enemies to SAMCRO but eventually became partners by the close of the Sons of Anarchy series. The president of the Mayans, Marcus Alvarez, was played by actor Emilio Rivera although it’s unknown at this time if he will reprise his role on the as of yet untitled spin-off series.

The upcoming series has no release date and no showrunner at this time but Sutter will likely be more hands off since his number one priority is The Bastard Executioner (set for release September 15th on FX).
