From Disney and director Ron Howard, comes Solo: A Star Wars Story, which chronicles the adventures of a young Han Solo, Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Joonas Suotamo, Thandie Newton and Paul Bettany, the film hits theaters May 25, 2018.
Through a series of daring escapades, young Han Solo meets his future co-pilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian.
Finally – FINALLY – We have something to promote the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story movie since it comes out in like 2 months… To say that fans are worried about this addition to the franchise is an understatement. After firing the two LEGO MOVIE director guys who couldn’t handle studio notes and Disney execs breathing down their necks, Ron Howard came in way too late in the game and had to do so many re-shoots, it’s hard to say what the finished product will feel like for fans. Alden Ehrenreich had to have an acting coach on set with him almost full-time from what I’ve heard and it sounded like Disney was having major worries about the finished product – hence all of the promotional delays.
That being said – Donald Glover looks absolutely killer as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson looks awesome and the dark, gritty, Empire Strikes Back vibe of the film looks more on par with Rogue One, which is one of the best films of the franchise. I’m much more hopeful than I initially was, but I say this every time a new Star Wars trailer debuts… Ron Howard is a pro and I have faith he was able to do the best job he could with what little time and resources/actors he had. Here’s hoping Solo: A Star Wars Story isn’t the trainwreck it seems destined to be after so many disastrous production issues. Also – can Emilia Clarke please not suck for a change? She’s only ever good in Game of Thrones… Every other major studio flick she’s in has bombed. May she not kill Star Wars like she tried to kill Terminator please?
