From Legendary Pictures, Universal Pictures and director Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Daredevil) comes the highly anticipated Pacific Rim 2. The first film was helmed by Guillermo del Toro (Crimson Peak) and it looks like he’ll remain closely with the production team for the follow-up. The film stars John Boyega and is due for release February 23, 2018.
It was revealed today that Pacific Rim 2 will hit theaters one week after Marvel unleashes Black Panther, as it strikes cinemas Feb 23, 2018. After several delays, the movie was taken off the release schedule entirely but tons of movement has been made ever since it was revealed that Steven S. DeKnight would be making his bigscreen debut as director of the project (HELL YES TO THAT CHOICE BTW).
Since then, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Attack The Block star John Boyega has been cast in the leading role as the son of Stacker Pentecost, whom fans will remember was portrayed by Idris Elba in the first movie. Derek Connolly will pen the script and he was one half of the duo that wrote the hit Jurrasic World. This is shaping up quite nicely.
