From director Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan (Slipknot), producer Mark Neveldine (Crank) and writer Joe Casey, comes the film adaptation of Image Comics’ Officer Downe. Starring Kim Coates, Tyler Ross, Lauren Velez, Reno Wilson, and Bruno Gunn, the film is scheduled for release November 18, 2016.
A police officer (Kim Coates) who refuses to be stopped by a little thing like death returns to the streets to fight crime. Based on the Image Comics series Officer Downe from writer Joe Casey and artist Chris Burnham.
I don’t know what the hell I just watched, but all I know is that I loved it. As a fan of grindhouse flicks like Turbo Kid and Wolf Cop, this upcoming Officer Downe movie looks bonkers. I don’t know whether or not I trust director Shawn Crahan as a filmmaker quite yet, because I saw his work on one of Slipknot’s documentaries/behind-the-scenes/concert films a while back and I was super confused at the odd artsy approach to the footage that was used.
However – it appears as though Crahan, under the visual guidance I’m sure of Mark Neveldine, has made sure that Officer Downe has captured the essence of it’s insane source material and went balls to the wall with this one. I like when people go all out.
