As of today, and after months of speculation – Netflix has added a ‘download to watch later’ option on several of their shows and films. iOS and Android users will now see the latest updated (if they upgrade to the latest version of their apps as of November 30, 2016).
Users will be able to download their episodes/films in either standard or high-def versions depending on available storage space on their phones/tablets. Orange is The New Black, The Crown and Narcos are all available to download with many more coming shortly. There’s no word yet on a desktop version where users can use this offline feature so in the meantime it seems to be a mobile-only option.
“While many members enjoy watching Netflix at home, we’ve often heard they also want to continue their ‘Stranger Things’ binge while on airplanes and other places where internet is expensive or limited,” said Eddy Wu, Netflix’s director of product innovation.
