From Mattel, Open Road Films, Thor: The Dark World writer Christopher Yost and director Stewart Hendler (Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn), comes the live-action film adaptation of Max Steel. Starring Ben Winchell, Ana Villafane, Josh Brener, Maria Bello and Andy Garcia, the film hits theaters October 14, 2016.
A 16-year-old (Ben Winchell) who can harness energy combines powers with a techno-organic extraterrestrial (Josh Brener) to become the superhero Max Steel.
Has anyone else noticed that there’s a Max Steel movie HITTING THEATERS in a couple weeks? It’s a full fledged theatrical release with a solid cast. I tried watching the cartoon with my kids and they lost interest, but it had a cool premise and I’m a fan of the Guyver, which is a similar B-Movie Power Rangers grindhouse-type romp, so this might be OK. However, the trailer was kinda…. Sketchy…
The official poster was just revealed and it looks good, but what do you think? Is this going to be a massive splat on Rotten Tomatoes? Odds are yes – very yes. But it would be nice for them to prove us all wrong because the concept is fun and I like the cast. So let’s pray that our solid director and writer can pull this thing together.
