The Insane Clown Posse’s 13th studio album and third Joker’s Card in the new wave of Dark Carnival offerings is one mean as hell effort. It reminded me of Hell’s Pit in terms of its structure and experimental tracks. ICP aren’t messing around and they truly have embraced the dark side in 2015.
When your first single is called ‘Vomit’ and recalls tales of how Satan barfs on various evil-doers faces, you know you’re in for a good time. ICP are utilizing more electronic beats and sounds that truly elevate the darkness aspect of their signature horrorcore flavor and it works very well throughout.
I personally don’t find the album as entertaining as the previous two Joker’s Cards because I prefer the more fun aspects of ICP’s songs about murder and mayhem – but it’s still a fine effort from the wicked clowns and shows that they’re willing to try new things in order to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of hip hop.
