In an interview with Comicbook.com, actor Hugh Jackman revealed that the upcoming sequel to The Wolverine will be the final time in which he will reprise the character, ending a 17-year run playing the superhero.
“This will be my last one. It is my last time… It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.” said Jackman.
Jackman had teased that he was close to hanging up the claws earlier this year in March when he posted an update on his Instagram account saying “Wolverine…One last time”. The upcoming Wolverine sequel is due for release in 2017.
