Wednesday is here again, which means a new week for new comics (CURSE WORDS, BEASTS OF BURDEN & WASTED SPACE). If you are like me, you may still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week, but how can anyone fault us for reading. Here is a list of books I will be picking up at my local comic shop.
BEASTS OF BURDEN #1 – $3.99
Dark Horse Comics – Evan Dorkin, Benjamin Dewey, Nate Piekos
A heroic pack of canines known as the Wise Dogs set off on a mission to clean up a Pennsylvania corridor plagued by seemingly unrelated occult disturbances that include a fire salamander and a horde of mutant lurkers. A link is found among the various disturbances, leading our heroes to a mountain village inhabited by a survivalist witch-cult who have discovered the existence of a “Blood Lure” attracting occult forces, creatures, and many more terrors to Burden Hill!
CURSE WORDS SUMMER SPECIAL #1 – $3.99
Image Comics – Charles Soule, Joe Quinones, Ryan Browne
SEE: Sizzajee’s sinister sorcerers sweating their way through the sunny, sultry, summertime season back in the Hole World. SEE: a hogtaur in a Speedo! SEE: an invisible wizard with a sunburn! SEE: such sights! Such glorious sights! JOIN US.
QUANTUM & WOODY #9 – $3.99
Valiant Entertainment– Eliot Rahal, Joe Eisma, Geoff Shaw
Breaking up is hard to do! For Eric and Woody Henderson – adopted brothers, partners, and the erstwhile superhero twosome known as Quantum and Woody – the world has just turned upside down! Usually, they can’t stand to be near one another… Now, they literally can’t be – or their powers go on the fritz! That definitely makes being a “duo” difficult, especially when a perilous new threat is teaching you just how bad you are at superhero-ing solo! Acclaimed writer Eliot Rahal (The Paybacks) and Eisner Award nominee Joe Eisma (Archie) divide the world’s worst superhero team in two as “SEPARATION ANXIETY” continues!
VENOM #5 – $3.99
Marvel Comics – Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin, Clayton Cowles
• An ancient Klyntar has awakened on Earth, and with it, something has stirred in Eddie Brock’s symbiote.
• And while Venom would never do anything to hurt Eddie or an innocent person, the ancient symbiote has no such qualms…
WASTED SPACE #4 – $3.99
Vault Comics – Mchael Moreci, Hayden Sherman, Jason Wordie, Jim Campbell, Marguerite Sauvage
Things are looking grim for Billy, Dust, and Molly Sue – but when are they not? Welcome to the critically-acclaimed, crazy-ass sci-fi romp that answers the question, “Will terrible people ultimately destroy us all?” Find out!
EXTRA PULLS: Cold Spots #1, Die! Die! Die! #2, Redneck #14, Justice League: Dark #2, Amazing Spider-Man #4
