TOP 5 COMICS TO BUY – 03/30/16: STRAYER, JUGHEAD & SAGA

Share

Wednesday is here, and new comics are within reach. So you may be like me and are still reading through the stack of comics from the last couple weeks, better make some room for these new titles I will be picking up at my local comic shop.

Like many I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult with the vast amount of quality books being published currently. So here are 5 titles worth looking into this week.

BRE26Batman & Robin #26 – $3.99

Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Scot Eaton, Carlo Pagulayan, Igor Vitorino, Geraldo Borges, Wayne Faucher, Jason Paz, Marc Deering, Allen Passalaqua, Gabe Eltaeb, Marilyn Patrizio, Tony S. Daniel, Tomeu Morey

This week marks the finale of DC’c most recent weekly shipped title. Though I often fell behind on my reading of the current issue, I am interested to see what this large creative team has in store for the book’s conclusion. The whole Bat-family has joined together to defeat Mother, but I have a feeling that she wont go out without fight. This seems like it will be a fitting end to many of these characters stories, prior to being relaunched with Rebirth in a couple months.

jughead5Jughead #5 – $3.99

Chip Zdarsky, Erica Henderson

Jughead has finally convinced the rest of the Riverdale gang that the new Principal is out to make some major changes. But its when Principal Stranger starts eying Pop’s Shoppe that the friends of Riverdale High will have to join together to make sure they put a stop to his plans.

saga35

Saga #35 – $2.99

Brian K. Vaughan, Fiona Staples

You really have to give it to this team, so much confidence in the book and its success can be summed up with the solicits, “Hard time”. Very smart, short and to the point. Pretty much what readers can always expect with this series.

strayer3Strayer #3 – $3.99

Justin Jordan, Juan Gedeon, Tamra Bonvillian, Rachael Deering

I’ve been reading a lot of Justin Jordan’s work recently, and Strayer isn’t an exception to his continuous amazing work. Paired with the fantastic art of Juan Gedeon Tamra Bonvillian, Strayer is good example of why Aftershock Comics should be on the radar of readers.

rickmorty12Rick and Morty #12 – $3.99

Tom Fowler, CJ Cannon, Ryan Hill, Crank

This issue mirrors the exact type of story I image seeing in an actual episode of Rick & Morty. “The family finds RICK’S SEVERED HEAD in the garage refrigerator! Unable to find Morty, they assume both are dead and begin the somber steps of funeral arrangement. Meanwhile, Rick and Morty… have bigger problems.” I am sure the likeliness that Rick and Morty are actually inside the severed head of another Rick is not the most craziest part of this issues story.

I read comics. I write about comics. You read about me writing about comics. If you have comics you want me to read, write me, and I will read it. I might even write about it.
