Wednesday is here, and new comics are within reach. So you may be like me and are still reading through the stack of comics from the last couple weeks, better make some room for these new titles I will be picking up at my local comic shop.
Like many I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult with the vast amount of quality books being published currently. So here are 5 titles worth looking into this week, and a couple honorary mentions for those that sold a bunch of homemade granola at their local farmers market.
James Tynion IV, Freddie Williams, Jeremy Colwell, Tom Napolitano
This creative teams ability to take two major franchises and merge them together as seamlessly as they have with this book is an incredible feat. This series started a bit slow, but after the last issue I have been anxiously waiting to find out what the future holds for these masked vigilantes.
Joshua Williamson, Jorge Coehlo, Jean-Francois Beaulieu, E.M. Gist
There have been a few Disney owned properties that have made it to comics since their purchase of Marvel a couple years ago, but this is the first that really has caught my attention. I am hoping this new title can capture the eeriness, scares and fun that makes the Disneyland attraction so great and do a better job of expanding the background story better than the 2003 film, featuring Eddie Murphy did.
Andrew Maclean, Mike Spicer
This book can be a little strenuous on the wallet at a six dollar price point, but this is a book dense with amazing action and adventure. As Head Lopper, Norgal, continues his expedition with a magical head, Agatha, they come across another traveller when they come face-to-face with a giant spider monster.
Marguerite Bennett, Ariela Kristantina,Bryan Valenza, A Larger World, John J. Hill
Aftershock Comics is the new kid on the block when it comes to comic publishers. If you have not had a chance to pick up one of their great titles, give Insexts a try. “Lady and Mariah hunt the bloody trail of the London Butcher as he cuts a swath through the secret heart of the city. Meanwhile, creatures out of medieval myth step into the gas-lit streets as the lovers find themselves trapped by a force far older and darker than anything they’ve ever encountered before.”
Tom King, Gabriel Hernandes Walta, Jordie Bellaire, Marco D’Alfonso
“The secrets are turning into lies, and the lies are turning into blood. In the midst of this violence, Vision must find the truth of what happened to the Grim Reaper. But when he does, will he protect his family or destroy them?”
Extra pulls: Amazing Spider-Man #9, Batman & Robin #23, Constantine #10, Howard the Duck #5, The Mighty Thor #5
