Share

Wednesday is here again, which means a new week for new comics (Alien Bounty Hunter, Assassinistas, Ice Cream Man). If you are like me, you may still have a stack of comics that haven’t been read from last week, but how can anyone fault us for reading. Here is a list of books I will be picking up at my local comic shop.

Like many readers I try to budget my purchases, which can become difficult when there are so many quality books being published each week. So here are 5 titles to consider picking up this week.

alien bounty hunter Vault

ALIEN BOUNTY HUNTER #3 – $3.99

Vault Comics – Adrian Wassel, David M. Booher, Nick Robles, Deron Bennett

Abandoned at the Midnight Gates, facing a wall of armed aliens, Madsen does what he does best: He takes a running leap off something tall. This time into a river of acid. Washing ashore in an even stranger ward, Madsen receives help from a gang of orphans. They take him to their guardian, The Malady. With a name like that, what could go wrong?

assassinistas black crown

ASSASSINISTAS #2 – $3.99

Black Crown Publishing – Tini Howard, Gilbert Hernandez, Rob Davis, Aditya Bidikar

“Pregnant Pauses and Campout Makeouts” Dominic Price is a college-age cutie pie who just wants to spend the semester making out with his boyfriend, Taylor, in between rounds of TurboLight Fighter and maintaining a solidly passable 3.2 GPA. His mom, Octavia, formerly a badass action-movie-quality bounty hunter, didn’t pay his tuition, because she had to get back in the business and spend 40K on black market weapons and body armor And she’s bringing Dominic with her, because the alternative is making lattes for a semester, and he’d rather die. Good thing in mom’s line of work, dying is an option!

ice cream man

ICE CREAM MAN #1 – $3.99

Image Comics – W. Maxwell Prince, Martin Morazzo, Chris O’Halloran, Good Old Neon, Ashley Walker

Chocolate, vanilla, existential horror, drug addiction, musical fantasy…there’s a flavor for everyone’s misery.
ICE CREAM MAN is a genre-defying comic book series featuring disparate “one-shot” tales of sorrow, wonder, and redemption. Each installment features its own cast of strange characters, dealing with their own special sundae of suffering. And on the periphery of all of them, like the twinkly music of his colorful truck, is the Ice Cream Man-a weaver of stories, a purveyor of sweet treats. Friend. Foe. God. Demon. The man who, with a snap of his fingers-lickety split!-can change the course of your life forever.

Extra Pulls: Batman #39, Kill or Be Killed #15, Venom Inc. Omega, Damage #1, Family Trade #4
