Deadpool 2 is Refreshingly Funny But I worry it Won’t Age Well (Review)

Deadpool 2 is Refreshingly Funny But I worry it Won’t Age Well (Review)

I know I said no more superhero movies for a while, but this week it was either Deadpool 2 or Show Dogs.  I stand by my choice. Based on the trailer I saw for Show Dogs, I wouldn’t wish the film on anyone. But Deadpool 2 was a treat.   It has all the things I like best in superhero films, too – one main character, for instance. That’s nice. And also it’s under 2 hours, which is REALLY nice.  And they’re not saving the world, or the universe, or Reality Itself – we’re not subject to the same tiresome level of Spectacle Creep that has been plaguing Marvel for a while now.   If you had to watch a superhero movie to help get rid of fatigue from watching superhero movies, Deadpool 2 would be the one to watch. The Hitman’s Bodyguard is Possibly The Best Action Comedy of The Year (Review)

The Hitman’s Bodyguard is Possibly The Best Action Comedy of The Year (Review)

This week it’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard. There was a bit of hype for this one, seems like I saw the trailer to the Hitman’s Bodyguard before every other movie for two months, regardless of genre.  That could be an overstatement but not by much.  I was pretty sure I’d like this one, Action/Comedy if a forgiving genre.  Even when it’s bad it’s still pretty good.  And this one was pretty good, I laughed so much.   Read more

The Hitman’s Bodyguard: A Few Laughs… But That’s About It (Review)

The Hitman’s Bodyguard: A Few Laughs… But That’s About It (Review)

I went into The Hitman’s Bodyguard and was at least hoping that it would be a guilty pleasure… With Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds, it would have to be decently enjoyable, right? RIGHT?! Wrong. It is pretty bad overall. There are some pretty big laughs, but that is about it. I really wanted to like this one. Read more

Life: There are Scenes That Rival The First Time We Saw The Chest Burster [Review]

I wasn’t quite sure about Life.  It was either this or Power Rangers.  I’d seen the trailer for both, couldn’t decide, and since I heard Life was better, I went to that.  Especially when I saw Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds were both in there.  But alas no weightless shirtless workout scenes with those boys, which means I missed Dacre Montgomery’s abs for this.  Life had better be good. Life: A Familiar, Yet Thrilling Space Movie With A Great Cast [Review]

Ever since Ridley Scott blessed us all with Alien in 1979, the space horror genre has been one of the more entertaining genres out there. Life borrows several  ideas and themes from Alien, but that doesn’t make it a bad movie. As a matter of fact, it’s a very entertaining and thrilling movie that is comprised of a great cast. There are a lot of things to like about Life. Read more
