The Lego Batman Movie: Everything You Love about Batman & More [Review]

The last time we saw the Caped Crusader on the big screen, he was in the hotly-debated Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (Hey, I liked it, so sue me). In a dour mood and off on a killing spree, some cried that it wasn’t the Batman they grew up with while others said it fit more closely with his comic book iteration. Either way, Batman v. Superman found the Dark Knight in a tight spot and in the middle of countless debates/arguments between critics and fans of comic book characters that almost sent film Twitter into flames. Luckily, Batman is back to provide some fun in the form of Legos. The Lego Batman Movie is a spin-off from the hugely successful The Lego Movie, which featured an “all-too-serious-but-trying-to-look-cool” Batman voiced by the wonderful Will Arnett (Arrested Development). Embracing the masked vigilante’s nostalgia from his past iterations along with the Lego universe’s nonsensical humor, The Lego Batman Movie is a hysterical, absolute blast from start to finish.

Suicide Squad: Summer’s Biggest Disappointment is Saved by a Tremendous Cast [Review]

Suicide Squad is being released at a critical time. For Hollywood, summer has scorched movie studios with an inconceivable amount of dull, worthless movies that fall into the category of “financial flops.” And for Warner Brothers, because of below expectation numbers back in March for Batman v. Suicide Squad has problems that keep it from being a memorable. But nonetheless, it’s a somewhat delightful oddball comic book movie, thanks to a cast full of great characters. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – The ‘Anti-Hobbit’ A Trilogy Packed into One Movie [Review]

I’ve been sick of superhero movies for a while now, hype or no hype.  There’s just been so many.  I remember this happened with vampire movies and also zombie movies – not long after they get popular there’s a giant glut of the things.  Then someone comes along to reinvent it and gets blamed for the whole thing tanking.  The genre is ripe; I bet the Stephanie Meyers of superhero movies is busy making a genre-killer as we speak.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is probably not said genre-killer, but it is definitely a warning sign that one is coming.
