From Netflix and creator Victor Fresco (Better Off Ted) comes the horror comedy series Santa Clarita Diet. Starring Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson, Skylar Gisondo and Joel McHale (among other guest stars), the first season is streaming now while season 2 debuts March 23, 2018.
Joel and Sheila Hammond are realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita, until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending both their lives down a road of death and destruction… but in a good way.
Santa Clarita Diet is bonkers. I know that people might be tired of the whole “zombie” craze by this point, but this series isn’t even about that. I mean – sure it’s about a mother who winds up infected with some sort of cannibal undead virus and she needs to eat human flesh to stop her body from decaying, but there’s a lot of dark, weird family drama stuff going on that you won’t see on other TV series. Timothy Olyphant and Drew Barrymore are delivering some of the finest work of their careers in this psychotic black comedy and if you missed it initially, there’s still time to binge that sucker before season 2 drops on us this month. Check out this hilarious trailer – the part where Olyphant walks into the kitchen killed me.
